I Heart Faces Week #29 – The Beach

button - at the beach_thumb

I know! I know! It is WINTER here but over at I heart Faces they are having a beach theme this week.

Thankfully, I have a couple lots of beach shots from last summer that I can choose from – in fact – I was really torn between two…but finally decided on this one as his face is sooo freakishly silly!

The photo I am submitting, photographically, is not technically great but it is FUN! I took it last September (winter for us Australians) just after I first purchased my DSLR. Aahhhh, the memories!

This is taken at my local beach – we are lucky enough to live 5 mins drive away from here – a famous place, called Brighton Beach. It is known for all of its wonderfully coloured bathing/beach huts. These are all privately owned and if one does happen to go for auction, they sell for over $100,000.00 AUD!!

Anyway, here is Zed boy (yet again!) doing a dive off the little verandah, pulling a strangely weird face. It must be his flying face! I guess what I like most about this shot is the colours and his flying shadow.

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I do have other victims children but he is the one who enjoys the camera the most….

Don’t forget to head on over to I Heart Faces to see the many fabulous Beach entries! You will be inspired – although, if you are in Australia like me, you may also be envious of their current warmth!

  3. That is an AWESOME photo!! LOVE it! When we were down at Rye we looked for Bathing Boxes/Beach Boxes but couldnt find any grouped closely together enough for pics like you see on the postcards lolol (found some that were spread apart so used them for a blog header for a while) so I have been meaning to go to Brighton but yeh its just a tad too cold atm isn’t it!! lolol Apparently there’s also a great set at Mount Martha too, so will check them out next summer too. Thanks for your lovely comments. Jen H

I wouldn’t be too envious of the summer – here in the UK it’s raining. Again.

  10. oh i love this! awesome colors!

  11. A fantastically fun, vibrant, lively image. And those painted gulls are perfect behind him!

  12. What a great shot. He’s flying. Really flying!! :)

  13. BEST. PIC. EVER.

I’m jealous….lol More than jealous, I’m curious…did he do a bellyflop onto the sand?

  14. Yes – definite belly landing on the sand! He is my daredevil boy. He rides motorbikes over bike ROCKS and LOGS and blocks of CONCRETE for fun. He always gives 110% when doing anything that might injure him!

When he did this jump, I said ‘can you do it again?’ he said ‘nah, don’t think so!’ lol

Thanks everyone – it is heartwarming to get so many positive comments!
